At the gate of our Yunnan Peak dormitory, there is a canal connected to a stream not far away. The canal is not too deep. It rises when it rains. Fish in the stream often swim into the canal because of "lost " . Fishing for these lost fish is one of the ways to have fun after work. This small canal has become one of the few good places for us to have fun after work.
It often rains here in Yunnan, and the rain comes and goes quickly. The off-duty time after the rain is the best time for us to fish. When it comes to fishing, the picture that may come to everyone's mind is a person sitting by the river with a sunshade behind his back, a fishing tackle bag in hand, and a slender carbon fiber fishing rod in front of him. However, most of our fishing tools are homemade. The paper clips are converted into fishhooks, tied to the fishing rods made of wooden sticks with threads, caught bugs from the side or brought some bread crumbs as bait, and then found a plastic bucket from the place where the sundries were piled up. The fishing preparation is completed. The most significant difference between a self-made fishing rod and a professional fishing rod is that it depends on the eyes to see if the fish is biting, rather than on the feedback of the fishing rod. If the timing is wrong, it is easy to unhook. The self-made fishing rod also lacks the tools to collect the fishing line. When the fish is hooked, people usually stand up and pull hard to complete the steps of collecting the fishing line.
Fishing is to enjoy the process, mainly to enjoy the sense of accomplishment at the moment when the fish is caught. Although there are only some small miscellaneous fish, they also enjoy it. The fish caught are generally not eaten. First, they are too small to have much meat. Second, many people do not have cooking tools in their dormitories, so they are basically released immediately. I used to watch other people fishing at home. I sat there fishing for a whole day. I didn't know the fun. I actually realized the happiness after I actually handed it.
