Perhaps it is because I have stayed in the city for too long, the feeling of the Spring Festival has gradually become unfamiliar, and the feeling of the New Year is not so strong. This reminds me of the strong New Year in my hometown-Huizhou, Anhui. Taste and childhood New Year scenes.
Huizhou has many folk customs to celebrate the New Year, and the activities of one government and six counties are different. Xu Village's bench dragon dance is red and red, implying that the weather is good and the people are prosperous; Wang Village dances a broadsword to pray for peace and abundance of grain; Ye Cun stacked Luohan prays for a good harvest in the New Year, peace in the four seasons, and prosperity in the people ...... Every kind of New Year's celebration is pinned on people's good expectations for the coming year.
In Huizhou, there is a saying that "after Laba is the year. Since Laba Day, the prelude to the Spring Festival, families are busy killing pigs and preparing New Year's goods. They invite each other to eat "pig killing rice", rice dumplings wrapped in glutinous rice, fried pines, rice dumplings, steamed cakes, fried peanuts, frozen rice candy, sesame candy ...... Xiuning County North Township and Yixian County area also dried tofu, called "Laba tofu". In a word, once Laba is over, the flavor of the year will be strong.
December 24 is commonly known as the "little year", which is the day when Huizhou sweeps dust, hangs up the house and sacrifices the stove. On this day, families carry out cleaning activities. The significance of dust sweeping is not only to clean up, but also to clean up a year's bad luck, inauspiciousness and poverty like dust to celebrate the New Year. On the same day, each family took out the treasured ancestral portraits, hung them in front of the hall, set up incense cases for sacrifices, and took the ancestors home for "New Year's Day", commonly known as "hanging zongrong". From this day on, the family will burn incense in front of the ancestor's portrait every day, which is called "install incense early and light the lamp later" until the 18th of the first month. And Wuyuan Sikou and other places call this "offering". The married daughter is not allowed to stay at her mother's house from this day on and must return to her husband's house.
New Year's Eve includes setting off firecrackers, pasting couplets and eating reunion dinner. It is worth mentioning that in my hometown in Huizhou, the lights will be brightly lit all night on the evening of the 30th of the year. Folk commonly known as "hair lamp hair ding, family prosperity". In Huizhou dialect, "lamp" and "ding" are homophonic, so there is a custom of replacing "ding" with "lamp" to pray for the prosperity of ding.
When I was a child, my favorite thing in my hometown was eating delicious food and having fun. On the 30th of the year, just as night fell, the whole family gathered together for dinner. Before eating, we should first put on the New Year's dishes and pour wine, burn incense to worship our ancestors, and then the whole family, old and young, sit together according to their seniority and drink freely. The New Year's Eve dinner dishes are the most abundant, including meatballs, stewed chicken, braised fish, braised meat, boiled dates, etc. Among them, fish and dried croissants (carob) are indispensable, meaning "more than every year" and "long life". My mother will also take out the pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, peanuts, etc. she has accumulated on weekdays and stir-fry them for everyone to eat. Frozen rice candy, sesame candy, hemp candy and other kinds of candy cakes are also readily available. At that time, my pockets were always full, my mouth was always full of various fragrances, and my face was always smiling.
Lantern Festival is even more lively. Urban and rural villages and towns are decorated with lanterns and various lantern activities are held. Colorful lanterns have a variety of names and styles, with ruyi lanterns hanging in front of the hall, and longevity lanterns hanging in front of the kitchen kitchen shrine. Some larger villages and towns also hold grand lantern festivals, lion dances, dragon dances, wandering gods and other activities, called "Lantern Festival". Clan ancestral halls, such as the Guanghui Temple in Yansi Town, hold lantern festivals every year. Children who have eaten yuanxiao play with various animal and plant lamps such as rabbit lamps, flower and fruit lamps, butterfly lamps, etc.
Lantern Festival is also exquisite. It uses sesame candy, bean paste or pork as stuffing and glutinous rice flour for external use to make small balls, also called tangyuan, which means round and round. My mother would use the most exquisite small bowl to hold eight small glutinous rice balls for me. At most, I ate two bowls at a time, and my stomach was round.
