In Huizhou, there is a saying that "after Laba is the year. Since Laba Day, the prelude to the Spring Festival, families are busy killing pigs and preparing New Year's goods. They invite each other to eat "pig killing rice", rice dumplings wrapped in glutinous rice, fried pines, rice dumplings, steamed cakes, fried peanuts, frozen rice candy, sesame candy ...... Xiuning County North Township and Yixian County area also dried tofu, called "Laba tofu". In a word, once Laba is over, the flavor of the year will be strong.

When I was a child, my favorite thing in my hometown was eating delicious food and having fun. On the 30th of the year, just as night fell, the whole family gathered together for dinner. Before eating, we should first put on the New Year's dishes and pour wine, burn incense to worship our ancestors, and then the whole family, old and young, sit together according to their seniority and drink freely.
