National Day Shaoxing Travels

Shaoxing is Lu Xun's hometown and an ancient city with profound culture. I know nothing more about this city than Lu Xun's articles such as "From Baicao Garden to Sanwei Bookstore" in Chinese textbooks when I was a child. Stinky tofu, daughter red, black felt hat and wupeng boat are all my first impressions of Shaoxing.

At the beginning of this year, I was going to visit the ancient city of Shaoxing once. The sudden epidemic situation disrupted my travel plan. The 8-day National Day holiday just restarted my trip to the ancient city.

At the first stop, we went straight to Cangqiao Straight Street. This is an old street full of life. On both sides of the street are unique taimen buildings, and the ground is bluestone. There are many small shops and exhibition halls with local characteristics. The good scenery of a small bridge and flowing water family, the crowd of people, suddenly integrated me into this atmosphere.

As a foodie, the best way to taste a place is to "taste". Yellow wine milk tea is my most direct experience of Shaoxing ancient rhyme. Yellow wine and milk tea, two drinks that are not usually associated with each other at all, are blended very harmoniously. The entrance is a little light yellow wine flavor, milk flavor and sweet taste are just right, super fresh and delicious. Similarly, there are yellow wine popsicles, which are also characteristic ideas that can only be tasted in Shaoxing. Shaoxing stinky tofu is even more unique. There is a long line of sales points. I can smell the unique smell from a distance. I can't help but join the team, just to eat a tender stinky tofu.

Walking and eating along the old street, I saw that the houses on both sides were very old, and there were many old people living here. The two wooden doors creaked and felt very old. The well-known Kong Yiji and Treasure Hunt in Shaoxing are right across the street. It is also an antique two-story building. There are already many people queuing for dinner at the door. I also clock in here.

Lu Xun Memorial Hall is worth seeing. It introduces Lu Xun's life, family background and the process of abandoning medicine and literature. The former residence is very large. The study, piano room, kitchen and bedroom are all well preserved, fully presenting the scene of Lu Xun's life and study from youth to youth. The walls of the courtyard are climbing high, and years of wind and rain have washed the walls to a rough and mottled level. Through those precious legacy objects, Lu Xun's growth process also seems to emerge in front of us. The seat in the northeast corner of Sanwei Bookstore was used by Mr. Lu Xun for reading. Seeing the word "Zao" engraved on the desktop, the story in the textbook once emerged from the depths of memory. Out of the bookstore is the Baicao Garden, which is actually a vegetable garden and the place where Lu Xun left many childhood memories.

A small river flows through the front of Lu Xun's former residence. The Wupeng boat sways across the river. When you arrive in Shaoxing, you have to take the Wupeng boat. Looking at the white walls and green tiles on both sides of the boat, the common people's homes, the typical Jiangnan water town style, the breeze slowly, keep a leisurely feeling, no hurry.
