When I was a child, my family was poor. Every Mid-Autumn Festival, my mother would make sugar cakes for us to eat at home. She first fried and crushed her own sesame seeds, put brown sugar or white sugar on them, stirred them evenly to make fillings, then divided the white dough into fist sizes, one large and one small into groups, rolled and pressed into round pieces, wrapped the small sesame white sugar stuffing, sprinkled a layer of sesame brown sugar stuffing evenly on the large ones, wrapped the small "steamed buns" tightly, sprinkled some sesame seeds on the outside, steamed in the pan, not too much time, the delicious sugar cake is ready.

Sugar cakes were a special favorite food when I was a child, but my mother hardly ate them, saying they were too sweet to like. But if I am greedy at ordinary times and want her to do it, she also said that only the Mid-Autumn Festival to eat. At that time, I would be silly to think, if only every day is Mid-Autumn Festival!

Later, I went to college, and the living standard of my family improved. I would buy moon cakes for myself during the Mid-Autumn Festival at school, but every time I went home during the holiday, my mother would steam sugar cakes for me. But at this time, I don't "love" sugar cakes so much, and sometimes I disdain to say: "Mom, it's not the Mid-Autumn Festival. Why do you steam it? Besides, you don't eat it yourself." Mom always smiled and replied, "You love to eat! Now the food at home is not like before according to the ration, do not have to wait until the Mid-Autumn Festival, you love to eat, mom will do for you to eat." Only then did I understand that my mother did not like sugar cakes, but was reluctant to eat them.

One year when I came home from the Mid-Autumn Festival, I volunteered to steam the sugar cakes they were reluctant to eat in their early years, but my mother smiled and said, "I really can't eat them! My body is not working." At that moment, I had mixed feelings. When did my mother's hair turn white? How did my father's back become like that? At that time, the conditions did not allow it, and the delicious food was saved for the children. Now their lives have improved, but they can only eat less or had better not eat because of their health. I used to be looking forward to the Mid-Autumn Festival, but now they are looking forward to the Mid-Autumn Festival, because they don't have to worry about whether I have to ask for leave to go home; they always think of me, and they carry it on their own when they are sick, saying, "Don't give your children any trouble"... But I, ignoring their feelings...

Thinking about it, I have a sore nose and started crying.

Now, as long as I have time, I will go home to visit my parents. Even when I am away from home, I often think of the sugar cakes made by my mother. Compared with the various moon cakes now, the sugar cakes are of course very rustic and inconspicuous, but they are always the best in my heart. Perhaps for the elderly, the company of their children should be the same, plain and beautiful. Therefore, as children, we should try our best to spare some time to go home and have a look, so that festivals like Mid-Autumn Festival are no longer long thoughts, but waiting for reunion.
