How is steel made?

How should people live to be meaningful? After reading "How is Steel Made", I have a deep feeling about this question.

In this novel, the author uses his own special experience as the material to create a glorious character - Paul · Kochagin. Paul was born in poverty, but he has been constantly striving for self-improvement, adhering to his beliefs, never giving up his ideals and pursuits, and has been fighting for the victory of the revolution. There is a famous quote in the book: "Human life is the most precious. When he looks back on the past, he should not regret for his mediocrity ......" No one is willing to live a mediocre life, because even the grass is trying to add a touch of green to the spring, hoping to leave his shadow on the scroll of spring.
