Not long ago, I watched the most popular movie "Wandering Earth", with a cat's eye score of 9.3 . Personally, I think this movie deserves full marks. As China's first self-made hard science fiction movie, it represents the highest level of science fiction movies in China and will become a milestone in China's film history.
There is a scene in the movie that deeply shocked me: Han Ziang was temporarily requisitioned by the rescue team while driving to the shelter with his granddaughter and grandson. On the way, the surge of Jupiter's gravity caused a strong earthquake, and a large area of landslides occurred on both sides of the road. All the people had to escape the car into a high-rise building and climb up from the elevator shaft. However, due to the cable fixing buckle falling off and the elevator falling off at high speed, the rescue team member just under the elevator pried open the elevator door and threw Han Ziang into it, but he was killed by the elevator.
This plot reminds me of a piece of news many years ago. A college student named Zhang Hua from the Fourth Military Medical University gave his young life to save an old farmer who dug up dung. This has led to a heated debate in the society: is it worth it for college students to sacrifice themselves to save the old farmers? In the film, the young team members are just on a mission to complete the task of transporting flint and to save the people of Hangzhou underground city 35 , while Han Ziang is determined to protect the safety of his grandchildren and take them home. How should he choose in this critical moment? Is it worth saving?
This may be a question that will never have a consensus answer. After all, everyone's growth environment, knowledge structure and value orientation are different. Different people will hold different views, and the same person may make different judgments in different contexts. The "life first principle" maintains a minimum of respect and awe for one's own life, but in every similar discussion, it seems that such a market-oriented "rational" voice can be heard in the end: the noble spirit of the savior is worthy of recognition. But its "adventurous" behavior is not worth promoting.
So, what kind of behavior is worth advocating when encountering a dangerous situation? On the premise of ensuring one's own safety, many people give such an answer by making rational judgment and acting according to one's ability. This is theoretically plausible and easily accepted. But the reality every time is that in the face of dangerous situations, there is often no room for rational thinking at a critical moment. To rush up or to retreat, all behaviors can only be instinctive reactions rather than the result of thinking. At the moment when the elevator fell, Gangzi's mind had only one thought, which was to save people. At the critical moment of life and death, he would act bravely and sacrifice himself to save others. This kind of fearless heroism can only be a bloody publicity in the depths of his soul, rather than a rational choice under weighing the pros and cons.
"Wandering Earth" is different from the western sci-fi blockbuster that we are already familiar with. Both the author and the director have a strong Chinese thinking mode and values. Without superheroes, superpowers, Iron Man and Batman, a group of ordinary people unite and organize to form a powerful unified will-hope is something more precious than diamonds.
