The Romance of the Three Kingdoms, one of the four classic classics, is familiar to everyone and contains a lot of wisdom. For example, the famous "Guan Yu lost Jingzhou carelessly" in the book can well reflect the importance of employing wisdom and team consciousness.
The first chapter of "The Romance of the Three Kingdoms" tells that when the court recruited soldiers to counter the Yellow Turban Rebellion in the late Eastern Han Dynasty, Liu Bei, Guan Yu and Zhang Fei met in Zhuoxian County. They shared the ambition of serving the country and hit it off. The three became brothers. This is the prototype of Liu Bei Group and later the earliest entrepreneurial team of Western Shu. Later, Zhao Yun, Zhuge Liang and Fa Zheng joined in. The civil ministers were resourceful and the military commanders were good at fighting. Liu Bei's group was even more powerful, breaking Cao, winning Jingzhou, occupying Hanzhong and Bashu. Bashu is a rich land, Liu Bei occupied Bashu after the advance of the Han king, Western Shu presents a thriving and thriving scene. But the good times did not last long. Soon after the establishment of the Shuhan regime, it went downhill and became the shortest-lived regime in the Three Kingdoms. Why is this?
I have to mention one person here: Guan Yu and Guan Yunchang. He made great contributions in the early stage of the establishment of the Shu Han regime, ranking first among the five tiger generals in Western Shu. However, in 219 AD, Guan Yu, the commander-in-chief of Jingzhou, a military town, carelessly lost Jingzhou, lost to Maicheng, and was captured and killed by Soochow. Jingzhou was the barrier of West Shu at that time. When Jingzhou fell, Cao Wei and Soochow could threaten Yizhou at any time. If West Shu attacked Wei, they could only take the rugged Hanzhong.
Why did West Shu fall into the strategic place of Jingzhou? Looking through the history, we can sum up two kinds of reasons.
1. leadership (mainly Liu Bei, followed by Zhuge Liang) improper employment.
Liu Bei knows Guan Yu's character and temper like the back of his hand. Zhuge Liang is also very good at knowing and employing people. However, in the appointment of the commander of Jingzhou, it should be inappropriate to choose Guan Yu. Guan Yu is arrogant by nature. It is very risky to be a commander in chief. Chen Shou, the author of "Three Kingdoms", commented on Guan Yu: "Guan Yu and Zhang Fei are both called enemies of ten thousand people, and they are the tigers of the world. Yu serves Cao Gong, and he has the style of a national scholar. However, Yu is just and self-righteous, and he is proud to fly with violence but without grace. He is defeated by short-term, which is a common reason." If Liu Bei and Zhuge Liang had appointed the steady and low-key Zhao Yun in the selection of Jingzhou commander-in-chief, history would have been very different. Jingzhou would have been firmly in the hands of the West Shu, and Guan Yu would not have died early, so that Liu Bei would not have impulsively transferred the soldiers of the country to launch the Yiling War, so that the West Shu would not have suffered heavy losses and the military strength and national strength would have been greatly reduced. It can be said that the death of Guan Gong directly led to the subsequent Battle of Yiling, after which Western Shu was hit hard and went into decline. Both Wu and Shu suffered losses. Cao and Wei sat on the mountain to watch the tigers fight and the fishermen benefited, which laid the groundwork for Wei to destroy Shu and Jin to destroy Wu in the future.
It can be seen how important it is to employ people and know people well. The employment of important positions and key positions should not make any mistakes, otherwise the losses cannot be made up.
2. from the internal cause analysis, is Guan Yu proud indulgence, headstrong, lack of team spirit and obedience consciousness, can not always keep a clear mind and low-key.
Chairman Mao commented on Guan Yu: "Guan Yunchang generally does not understand the united front. This person is not clever. He treats the allied forces with closed doors and does not talk about policies." Why does Guan Yu not understand the united front? The author thinks that Guan Yu is arrogant and arrogant. Guan Yu killed Yan Liang, cut Wen Chou, cut six generals after five passes, flooded the seven armies, captured the ban, killed Pound, and shocked China. The career reached a new peak and became more proud and complacent. As for the strategy of guarding Jingzhou, Zhuge Liang once warned Guan Yu to "reject Cao Cao in the north and Sun Quan in the south". However, Guan Yu is a very individual and arrogant person. It can be said that he lacks team spirit and likes to make his own decisions. Sun Quan once asked for a marriage for his son and asked Guan Yu's daughter to marry his son. Guan Yu not only refused, but also replied, "Does my tiger daughter deserve your dog!" This made Sun Quan very uncomfortable and lost face in front of the ministers. It also laid the groundwork for Sun Quan to cooperate with Cao Cao to attack Guan Yu in the future.
Because of arrogance and carelessness, when attacking Fancheng, Guan Yu lost his vigilance to Soochow and rashly transferred all his troops to the front line, giving Soochow Lu Meng an opportunity to sneak attack Jingzhou. And because of the improper handling of the relationship between colleagues, the two generals, Mi Fang and Fu Shiren, were very dissatisfied, and then surrendered to Sun Quan, losing the foundation of the rear.
It can be said that it is Guan Yu's character that finally forced himself into a desperate situation step by step.
The tragic story of Guan Yu's careless loss of Jingzhou can at least give us two inspirations:
First, as a manager and employee, we must foster strengths and avoid weaknesses, and know people well. Sun Tzu's Art of War said: "Know the enemy and know yourself, and you will be invincible in a hundred battles." In management, it is very important to know your subordinates very well and use them in combination with their talents, temperament, temper, and personality.
Second, as a member of the organization, you must guard against arrogance and rashness, have an overall view, and obey the interests of the organization. Only in this way can you achieve mutual benefit and win-win results. For example, when Sun Quan sent people and relatives, if the interests of the organization were taken into account (the Wu-Shu alliance can only resist the strong Cao of Heng), Guan Yu could not refuse with a high profile, could agree with one mouthful, or could postpone the military plan to consider and push off for a period of time. Just imagine, if Guan Yu and Sun Quan formed in-laws, wouldn't the alliance between Wu and Shu become more solid?
