As soon as I got off the bus, I saw the old people sitting in wheelchairs or stools in rows in the open space outside the house. They should have known we were coming and waited there early, right? I thought they were just like my grandparents, but they were getting older, moving slowly, their hair turned white and their thinking was dull. However, I never thought that there was a scene before me that was not what I had imagined-they were much more distressed than my grandparents. Some were sitting in wheelchairs with their heads tilted, their lips tilted and their hands pursed. Some swollen feet; some even took off their hair; there are hanging bags, I heard that it is uremia, time will not be too long... I instantly froze, the heart mixed, tears involuntarily poured out.
A sober grandfather waved to me trembling and asked me which unit I belonged to. I quickly adjusted my mood, walked over and bent down, and said word by word with a smile as naturally as possible: "We are employees of Yunnan Jianfeng Cement Factory. We have come to visit you." They held my hand tightly and nodded happily. In a flash, a warm current welled up in my heart. This is the happiness I have never felt before.
This time, our Yunnan peak has brought a lot of daily necessities, food, fruits and so on to the old people. We sent the condolences to our grandparents one by one. Looking at their satisfied expression, I also smiled happily.
At 11: 30, it was time for dinner. We helped Grandpa, who was unable to move, to the canteen. He was leaning on crutches and wearing slippers. He could see that his feet were very swollen. Even if we were supporting him alone, he could only move one or two small steps leisurely, stop to catch his breath, and then move two steps leisurely. It was very difficult. I don't know what to do when he was alone in the past. When I asked how often his family would visit him, he said weakly: "No family." My heart was like a needle. It hurt so much that I blurted out a sentence: "Grandpa, we will come to see you again." After listening to my words, grandpa nodded and his mood seemed not so depressed.
Taking advantage of the grandparents' meal time, we cleaned the garden for the nursing home, trimmed the branches, pulled out the weeds, and repaired their public facilities.
In the past, most of the youth festival activities were challenging activities such as mountaineering and expansion, which would make people feel excited and have a sense of achievement, but this activity gave me a stronger sense of happiness. I have to say, this is the most meaningful youth festival I have ever had.
Now, I am holding a cup of light tea, leaning against the window, watching the setting sun, the melodious melody is constantly coming from my ears, "When you are old, you can't walk...
